Acton Boxborough (Saturday, January 3):

  • Team: Boys Hockey
  • Score/opponent/date: CCHS 2 - Acton Boxborough 0 / Saturday, January 3
  • Team record: Overall 4-2; Dual County League 2-0
  • One-sentence storyline:  In front of a packed house at Nashoba Olympic Arena, strong goaltending and timely goals enabled the CCHS Boys Varsity Hockey Team (CC) to defeat rivals Acton-Boxborough (AB), 2-0.
  • Big game:  Declan Daley ignited the CC attack, scoring the only two goals of the night, both of which were assisted by Joe Grasso, while goalie Sam Griswold turned away each of AB's 34 shots on net.
  • Turning point/game changer:  With 8:31 remaining in the second period, CC opened the scoring on a power play goal by Declan Daley from the left circle, assisted by Joe Grasso.
  • Unsung hero:  Junior defenseman Fisher Tibbett contributed strong play on the defensive end, senior forwards Tyler Kamoniek and Theo Price provided offensive sparks (including an assist by Price), and junior defenseman Christopher Bono made plays all over the ice.
  • Up next:  On Wednesday, January 7, the boys travel to Veterans Memorial Rink for a 7pm face-off against a Waltham Hawks team that is undefeated in its first three games in the Dual County League.
